Hello, my friends. My fellow achievers. It’s Bryan here. My question for you today is, are you right-handed or left-handed? And why? When was the last time you even thought about that?
I’m asking because last night I was reflecting on an event that occurred in my life about years ago. I was in a class in college. It was a biology class. This was before laptops. I would take notes intensely for the entire minute period. It got to the point where my right hand fatigued so badly that it hurt to take notes with my right hand.
I reflected on something I had read in Gandhi’s biography. When Gandhi would journal or he would correspond with people, he would write with his right hand until it got too tired and he still had work to do; rather than push through the pain or quit working he would write with his left hand. I thought that’s amazing! I started doing that in that biology class.
More than 20 years ago. It’s a discipline that I’ve cultivated. I’ve stayed with to this day. Now I pick up a pen or fork with my left hand. I don’t even think about it. My hand-writing is about equally good with either hand.
But for you, if you’re right-handed or left-handed, do you see yourself as that without thinking about it? Without ever thinking about being other-handed without being ambidextrous?
My question isn’t just about writing, but about where else in your life that might be the case. That you have abilities that you’ve closed yourself off to. Are you an extraordinary painter? A dancer? A singer? A writer? Are you great with people? Is there some gift that you have that’s gone dormant?
Perhaps you no longer even think about it. If so, what would it take to wake that up? What would the benefit be of sharing that gift with others? Look at that through the question of which handed are you and why? What is it inside you that’s just waiting to be expressed?
It’s my question. I hope you’ll answer. I hope that the answer expands the quality of your life. I also hope you have a great day. Until next time, take care.
